We want to employ a highly motivated and committed individual with the ability to develop and manage complex, evidence-based programmes. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, development and commissioning of a number of key public health programmes for Blackburn with Darwen. You will have a proven track record of working strategically in complex multi-organisation partnerships and of bringing about change for health improvement.
This is an exciting opportunity for a permanent position and a fixed term position (until December 2019) Public Health Specialist to work with Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group, Blackburn with Darwen Council, third sector organisations, communities and citizens.
Working to the Acting Consultant in Public Health, you will take a lead in providing professional, evidence-based, and ethical advice to guide strategic planning, policy development, and implementation, commissioning, performance monitoring and evaluation of interventions, ensuring that they are innovative, high-quality, clinically safe, cost-effective, and that they will improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.
The positions will each hold wide-ranging portfolios, and to lead for one of the following Life Course Phases: Start Well and Live Well, as well as to lead on a number of the following areas (areas may change as appropriate):
- Vulnerable and Complex Populations
- Healthy Child Programme
- Substance misuse, including alcohol
- Wider determinants
- Primary care
- Trauma / ACE Informed policy
- Public Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing, including suicide prevention
- Sexual Health
You will make a significant contribution to the borough-wide integration of health and social care, as well as supporting Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council reach its vision of being a Public Health Organisation, with the co-production of new delivery models.
You will be used to working in a complex and fast changing environment. In this exciting role your areas of responsibility and work will change over time.
